When everyone’s a photographer Comments
In my experience, there are two forces that will almost inevitably cause a person to grab a camera, whether they are a photographer or not. The first force is pure unadulterated cuteness in the form of a baby. People can’t help but take pictures of babies. Maybe it’s because you have to really try to take a bad picture of a baby so everyone can come up with some great photos. Or maybe it is just written in our DNA that we must take pictures of babies, even if we aren’t particularly fond of babies in general.
The second force comes in the form of Mother Nature. As leaves turn in the fall, creating a myriad of vibrant colors everywhere you look, we all grab our cameras to try and capture the beauty that can only be created by nature. And now, as the snow falls throughout the northern part of the state (though we in Corvallis only had a handfuld of days with real snow on the ground), everyone reaches for the chains for their cars and the cameras for their hands. Photographers in the newspaper business, even those of us who hate snow, are no different. Here are some images from the snow fall last week.

It took a while of just standing there in the cold, but finally the bird started to ignore me enough that it went about its business of finding food in the snow.
Many families were out enjoying the snow while it was here.
More images from the week of snow are in the Gazette-Times Snow Days Gallery found here.
And for everyone compelled by forces beyond their control to grab those cameras, keep it up and share your photos with everyone.
